The Demo Bird Society says the Sevli wetland now hosts 214 species, including 11 not previously recorded in the district.
Volunteers noted that waders arrived two weeks earlier than usual.
New arrivals included a rare crane, a pair of falcons and four types of duck. The count took place across 63 transects, each walked at dawn by teams of three volunteers.
The society says draining and plastic waste remain the biggest threats to the wetland.
